Supergirl (Linda Danvers)
Basename:
Supergirl
Brand:
DC Isaac 2005
Theme:
DC
Biography:
Linda Danvers, also known as Supergirl, first appeared in Supergirl Vol. 4 #1 in 1996. This version of Supergirl is a complex character, quite different from Kara Zor-El.
Linda was originally a troubled young woman in Leesburg, adopted by Fred and Sylvia Danvers. Her life took a drastic turn when she merged with Matrix, a protoplasmic lifeform that had previously impersonated Supergirl. This merging granted Linda immense superpowers, transforming her into a new version of Supergirl.
This Supergirl's origin is deeply tied to religious themes and angelic entities. Her powers stemmed from a divine source, reflecting her role as an "Earth-Born Angel." Unlike the Kryptonian Supergirl, Linda's powers fluctuated and were linked to her emotional state and her devotion to her purpose.
Linda's Supergirl operated with a darker, more proactive approach than her predecessors. She often battled supernatural threats and dealt with morally ambiguous situations. Her story explored themes of redemption, faith, and the burden of immense power.
